Gloucester Mustangs 80 pounders win the WJYFL Championship (11/23/13)

Jacob Zearfoss #33 breaks loose for a long TD
On November 23rd, the Gloucester Mustangs 80 pound squad  traveled an hour up north to face the Maple Shade Tigers at Robbinsville High School.  The Mustangs packed 3 buses full of players, coaches, cheerleaders, parents, and fans.  The enviroment was something different for the boys, playing on not at a High School, but on a turf field.  This wasn't their first game on turf, but the setting was different than any other game they had this season.  The Tigers were (9-1) on their to the North Conference crown, their lone loss was a 26-0 defeat at the hands of Gloucester.  The Mustangs would strike first in the 2nd quarter as Jacob Zearfoss took a pitch around the right end, cut it up the middle and broke numerous tackles on his way to the end zone.  His extra point would give the Mustangs a 7-0 lead.  After a quick 3 and out, the Mustangs struck again on their second play as John Daily ran for a 30 yd TD for the Mustangs, another Zearfoss extra pt gave Gloucester a 14-0 lead.  Daily also added an INT that preserved the 14 pt lead that they took to halftime.
Gloucester would receive the 2nd half kick, and they scored on both of their first two 2nd half drives giving them a 26-0 lead as Jacob Zearfoss scored both TDs giving him 3 on the day, and this game was over.

Hector Sanchez #34 scores a 4th quarter TD

John Daily #5 breaks loose for 2 TDs on the day
The Gloucester defense made a bunch of great plays on the day holding down a prolific Maple Shade offense.  Derek Levins, Leo Curran, Justice Dolson, Kaleb Wright, and Maddox Zane had the Shade QB on the run all game.  The corners Aydan Hagan and Josh Dockery did a great job containing him, and Dominic Ryan & Hector Sanchez made a few plays keeping him from long runs.  Gloucester's offensive line wasn't finished as Jack Radlinger, Nick Ekimoglou, Jason Allen, Andrew Pinto, Dom Spencer, Leo Curran, Hector Sanchez, and Kaleb Wright opened big holes all day.  Hector Sanchez got his chance in the backfield and didn't disappoint with a long TD run in the 4th quarter, Aydan Hagan rounded out the scoring with a QB sneak giving Gloucester a 39-0 lead.  Maple Shade's Sean Loomis would score a TD and extra point on the last play of the game for the Tigers, but it wasn't enough as the Mustangs would take home a 39-7 win.  Gloucester stayed perfect on the season, going (11-0) and winning the West Jersey Youth Football League 80 pound Championship.  The Coaches were Head Coach: Chad Zearfoss, Offensive Coordinator: Ziggy Zearfoss, Assistants: Rich Dolson, Dave Wright, John Daily, Rob Radlinger, Scott Loughlin, Todd Zane, and Harry Ulmer.
